The drama reflects the height of materialism in society. It gives the message that humanity has been disappearing with time and now people are no more sentimentally attached to their loved ones and are only interested in their materialistic belongings. It shows that children today do not actually care for their elderly parents. They are just interested in their wealth and consider them a burden in their lives. They have forgotten the true essence of living together. The play satirizes the money-minded and immoral outlook of people in our society. People like
Mrs. Slater and Mrs. Jordan should be taken as a word of advice. This play gives the message that life is about how much you give, share and receive in a relation and how much you can respect the ones who were there for you.
